The last few years have been really interesting in terms of eCommerce platforms – with Shopify Plus being the real challenger in the luxury, lifestyle and fashion markets – putting pressure on the likes of Magento Commerce and Salesforce Commerce Cloud in particular. I was recently looking for luxury Shopify Plus examples for a client and decided to publish some of the good examples (in terms of UX and usage of Shopify Plus) as a blog post.
The main reasoning for the popularity of Shopify Plus in the luxury space comes from the simplicity of the platform and the general focus on the front-end. Most luxury retailers are very focused on UX and creating a really clean, focused experience for users – which Shopify is great for and also requires a lot less technical input. Shopify and its eco-system also meet most core functional requirements that luxury retailers / brands have, which in my experience are mostly around visual merchandising, personalisation, content management (allowing for things like rich media, storytelling etc) and integrated editorial features.
